Episode 1

Mona Leed is heavily pregnant and alone at her prenatal checkup. When the clinic tries to charge her card, it comes back empty — the money she saved from delivery work is gone. She calls her adoptive aunt, who admits Uncle gambled it away and tells her to stop nagging. The aunt reminds her they raised her for fifteen years, so she owes them. Then the pain hits, hard, and Mona fears she might give birth right there in a public restroom. Stranded in a private villa district with no taxis, a stranger offers her a ride.

Episode 2

At a lavish family banquet, Jim Judd's mother needles him about settling down, but Jim insists he has zero interest in any of the women his parents have lined up. Meanwhile, Mona keeps running delivery orders to scrape together her tuition before the school deadline, taking a rush job to deliver medicine to a wealthy client's son. She walks straight into the wrong event — a glittering party full of dressed-up socialites. When a guest accuses her of sneaking in to steal, the humiliation escalates fast: security is ordered to strip and search her.

Episode 3

The banquet turns ugly. Someone screams at Mona for touching Jim Judd, and his people order her dragged away and beaten — especially her "dirty hands." Then a cold, cutting question cuts through the room: what are their names, and who here are their relatives and friends? One young woman proudly names her family connections, expecting protection. Instead, every one of them is thrown out, and every business deal connected to them is cancelled. The room turns on the two who caused the scene, panicking about bankruptcy.

Episode 4

After the chaos, a young actress approaches Jim Judd, eager to network and name-drop the film he invested in. He shuts her down flat. Another heiress claims they met as children; he doesn't remember her. Bored and annoyed, Jim leaves the party early. His mother, chasing a world-class career for him, jokes that Jim should at least produce an heir so she stops pressuring him. Then a scheme takes shape — someone arranges for a particular woman to be sent to Jim's room, and the choice is made: her.

Episode 5

The woman delivered to Jim's room is, of course, Mona — the same courier from the banquet. Jim's mother recognizes her and realizes she's the "gift" she arranged to push Jim into finally sleeping with someone. Mona protests that she's just a delivery runner, not what they think. But something is wrong: the medicine she was sent to deliver, and now her own body, is behaving strangely. She feels unsteady and wrong. Jim's mother teases that she might genuinely catch Jim's interest — right as everything spirals.

Episode 6

Jim's mother assumes Mona is there for money and tells her to take a token and go ask her for whatever she wants. Mona insists she isn't for sale — she's just a courier, and they've got the wrong person. Back home, her aunt and uncle confront her about her expensive tuition, pressuring her to drop out and marry the "good match" they've found: an older man willing to pay a bride price. Mona refuses. She's determined to finish school and earn her own way, no matter what they threaten.

Episode 7

The aunt and uncle push harder, and when they realize Mona is pregnant, the aunt is disgusted — the older man wanted a "clean" young bride, and now the price drops. She coldly suggests Mona abort the baby and have surgery so they can still fetch the full bride price. Mona refuses outright: this child is the only family truly connected to her by blood. The aunt and uncle cut her off completely, refusing her a single cent. Desperate and in pain, Mona begs for her stolen money back — then, alone, she calls out for help.

Episode 8

A doctor is alerted: a girl is giving birth in the hospital restroom. Mona arrived alone — no parents, no husband, no money for delivery or hospitalization. The staff are furious on her behalf at whoever abandoned her. Then Jim's mother spots the Buddhist beads she's wearing and recognizes them instantly as her son's. She orders an immediate surgery and rushes out, calling Jim with the news: his child is being born. The beads are the thread that ties Mona's crisis straight back to Jim Judd.

Episode 9

Jim's mother confronts him: eight months ago, the woman from that night is hemorrhaging and nearly died in a public restroom, wearing Jim's own prayer beads. Jim is baffled — he's never even met her, so how could he have paid her off? The truth surfaces: his mother arranged a courier delivery of medicine to him that night, not knowing who would show up. Now his mother wants her grandchild protected, while Jim insists he never touched the girl. The family's scheming and Jim's denial collide as Mona's life hangs in the balance.

Episode 10

The doctor delivers good news: the baby is saved, but Mona is severely malnourished and must stay calm — any shock could endanger them both. Her aunt and uncle refuse to pay a single yuan and try to drag her out of the hospital, sneering that they never wanted the baby anyway. They've already cut a deal: if she delivers a stillborn, they can still sell her as a "half bride." Mona clings to the beads, telling them the child's father will pay — if only they'll let her live.
