Love, Lies, and Second Chances

Episode 1

Joyce Levine arrives at her boyfriend's granduncle's birthday party, only to freeze when she sees the guest of honor: Hector Sinclair, the ex she thought she'd buried two years ago. Worse, Pei Yi proudly introduces her as his girlfriend and future wife, right in front of the man who once wrecked her.

Hector plays along, offering congratulations with a smile that doesn't reach his eyes. When Pei Yi gets called away for work, Hector moves in fast, coaxing her to stay and drink with him. Joyce refuses, saying she doesn't drink. Another guest offers to drink with Hector instead. But the damage is already done — he remembers everything.

Episode 2

The party winds down, but Hector isn't finished. He corners Joyce the moment she tries to leave, and the polite mask drops. He reminds her she used to call him "Granduncle" — and needles her that she was the eager one, back then.

Joyce shoves him off, insisting she's Pei Yi's girlfriend now. Hector only smirks: if she started it, she doesn't get to decide when it ends.

Elsewhere, Pei Yi keeps calling and getting no answer, irritation creeping in. Joyce finally picks up, brushing off her silence as nothing — just a twisted ankle on the stairs. The lie lands easily. Too easily.

Episode 3

Hector keeps pushing, dragging up the past Joyce swears she's forgotten — and he offers to "remind" her himself. She wants none of it, but he's clearly not done circling.

Meanwhile, Pei Yi is waiting on her, reminding her she promised to spend the night with him. Joyce buys herself time, claiming she just fell on the stairs and needs a moment. She tells him she's heading home and hangs up fast.

The gap between the two men in her life keeps widening: one she's promised a future to, one who refuses to accept the past is over.

Episode 4

Joyce draws a hard line — she's about to marry Pei Yi. Hector's answer is chilling: she can't marry anyone without his permission. He makes it clear that hurting the people around her would be easier than hurting himself, and offers to do it for her.

Then a stranger returns her lost bag, and the talk turns to Pei Yi himself — the heir who's apparently never lost control over a woman before. Curiosity about Joyce spreads.

Hector's warning lands like a threat: this time, she doesn't get to run. Whatever he's planning, he's only getting started.

Episode 5

Shaken, Joyce rushes to her friend Ruoyi and confesses: she saw him. Hector Sinclair — the man who ruined her years ago — is Pei Yi's granduncle.

Ruoyi is ready to hunt him down, but Joyce begs her to keep the secret. Pei Yi can never know about her past with his own granduncle. She insists she's not carrying a torch for Hector and won't betray Pei Yi, not with the wedding a month away.

Ruoyi presses her about the apartment hunt and that creepy landlord. Joyce says he's calmed down. Then the landlord corners her — and it turns violent fast.

Episode 6

The landlord's attack turns terrifying — until Hector appears and takes control, hauling Joyce out of danger and carrying her toward the hospital. He's furious she ignored his warning to stay away from that place.

Joyce tries to push him off, but he won't let her limp away on her own. Then a small detail slips out: her phone's emergency speed-dial somehow got switched to his number.

She demands an explanation. He turns it around on her, needling her about wanting his number. She denies it, flustered. The rescue may be real — but so is whatever game he's playing.

Episode 7

At the hospital, Pei Yi arrives to find Hector already there — the one who saved Joyce. Pei Yi thanks him and offers to treat him to a meal. Hector brushes it off coolly, implying Joyce already thanked him in her own way.

Pei Yi tries to reassure Joyce that his granduncle is just prickly by nature, not targeting her. She promises him she'll keep the vows she made — the ones tied to his family.

But Pei Yi's mother has her own warning ready, aimed straight at Joyce. The pressure is closing in from every side, and the wedding is still weeks away.

Episode 8

Outside, Joyce waits while Pei Yi runs up to see his mother, but the promised ten minutes stretch on. A guard orders her to move the car, so she steps away — just as Hector appears again.

He doesn't bother with pleasantries. He tells her to control herself — that she is embarrassing the Pei family. The hypocrisy is staggering, and Joyce doesn't take it quietly.

Then, in the car with Pei Yi, a sudden command cuts through: there's a car ahead — hit it. The recklessness hints at how far someone is willing to go.

Episode 9

The fallout sharpens. Pei Yi's mother seethes, convinced Joyce is scheming, while a worried voice warns Hector that going after the man who hurt Joyce would bring the whole family down on him — and that Joyce is, by rank, his grandnephew's fiancée.

Hector doesn't care. He says he'll take what he wants, and no one — not even the family patriarch — can stop him.

His interest in Joyce only deepens the more she resists. Then he orders the people they've been hunting brought inside. Whatever he's building toward, it's no longer just about winning her back.

Episode 10

Pei Yi's mother lets Joyce stay in the family home — then makes sure she knows it's charity, comparing her to a stray dog fed scraps. She warns Joyce she'll never get through the Pei family's door.

Joyce doesn't flinch. She points out the mother is sweet to Pei Yi's face and cruel behind his back, and calmly reveals she recorded the whole thing to send to him.

The older woman panics and demands the recording be deleted. Joyce agrees — but only after making her terms clear: these next few days, they'll play nice. Then she picks her own room, unbothered.
