Love Lost in the Waiting

Episode 1

Seth Palmer has spent six years chasing Vera Lane, and now they're two years married — and still strangers under one roof. He reheats a dinner of all her favorite vegetarian dishes for their anniversary, but she's already eaten. He offers wine; she refuses, saying her Buddhist practice forbids it. When he presses, she accuses him of wanting her drunk so he can finally get what he's been waiting for. Two years, and not once have they been truly husband and wife. Episode 5

Vera is hospitalized after being struck with bottles — more than thirty stitches. Vera tells Seth she's already handled it: she's grounded Vera for a day and withdrawn the police report, so no precinct will take the case. Seth is stunned. He chased her for six years, and this is what he's worth to her? She insists she cares, promises to stay and care for him until he's discharged, and calls it compensation. He calls it a favor. Episode 6

Fifteen days pass until Seth is discharged, and Vera holds to her promise. Vera apologizes for his outburst, and Vera invites him to stay at their home. The two siblings fall back into easy rhythm — cooking, joking, watching movies — while Seth stands outside it, noticing how much more she laughs with Vera than she ever did with him. She monitors Vera's messages and deletes a girl's contact, controlling in a way she never is with her own husband. When Seth quietly leaves the table, claiming he feels unwell, the contrast is plain: he is the outsider in his own marriage.

Episode 7

Seth's patience curdles into something colder. He needles Vera about how generous she is to Vera — the medicine, the care, the attention — and asks whether this is her idea of compensating him. Someone has been watching, and a kidnapping begins. Vera screams for his sister to run as the trap snaps shut.

Episode 9

In the chaos, Vera is injured — his arm caught in the blast. Seth wakes to learn he's been used: part of his skin was taken to treat Vera, chosen because their coloring matched. He's furious. Vera offers to compensate him, even promising the date he's always wanted. He tells her she's trampling him, that Vera is her treasure and he's the mud under her feet, and that she's only this bold because she knows he loves her. Then a call comes: his German residence permit is approved.

Episode 10

It's finally ending. The divorce papers are drawn up, and Seth turns down a woman's offer to help him move on. When Vera threatens him, Seth tells him the truth he's been hiding from: Vera's prayer room holds Vera's photo, and the one she always wanted to marry was him. Vera is shaken. Seth leaves the papers behind with a blessing for them both and walks out — their sibling matters are no longer his concern. Vera's reply is cold: she no longer loves him, and he can't hurt her anymore.
