Episode 1

Ava Green is done counting down. She tells her lawyer she's sent over a divorce agreement — one she and her husband signed on their wedding day three years ago. With a month left on the deal, it will activate automatically, no arguments required.

A servant reminds Ava that Gavin's birthday is coming, and she has always arranged it herself. She starts listing his preferences — black forest cake, no peanut butter, white roses not red, no tequila in the drinks — then stops herself.

She tells the servant to remember these details carefully for next time, because next time she won't be arranging it. She won't be Mrs. Bowen anymore. The instructions are less a party plan than a quiet farewell — and a hint that she's already decided when she'll walk out the door.

Episode 9

At Gavin's birthday party, the gifts are lavish. Ava's present turns out to be a limited-edition watch, and the guests gush about what a perfect match it is for him. Then Nina steps forward with her own gift: a hand-knitted scarf.

The room sneers — crooked stitches, cheap yarn, a scarf in summer. Someone even asks who this shabby-looking woman is. Gavin silences them, saying he treasures a handmade gift more than anything money can buy, and that the expensive watch, however costly, doesn't move him at all.
