One Step Away from Goodbye

Episode 1

Diana Reid has been married to Ethan Gray for five years, and tonight is her birthday. She waits at the restaurant she reserved half a month in advance, but Ethan never shows. As the staff prepare to close, she finally accepts it. "Five years of marriage, I've waited for you too many times," she says, done. Episode 5

Ethan tries Diana's phone. It's off. He assumes she's at a relative's or friend's, but the staff remind him she's an orphan — the grandmother from the orphanage died years ago, and they don't know any of her friends. Episode 10

Lin Yanran corners Diana again, warning that pregnancy won't lock down the title of Mrs. Gray. She reminds Diana that when they both fell in the water, Ethan swam straight to her — Diana was pulled out by a servant. Lin admits she's anxious: if Diana doesn't step aside, she can never take her place. Diana calmly says she'll hand the position over — but Lin must find a way to distract Ethan so Diana can leave the house. Lin asks why Diana is suddenly so determined after enduring so many years. Diana's answer is simple: she hasn't been happy. She wants her own life now.
