Episode 1

On the day of a pre-pregnancy checkup, Myra Hale learns the truth she never saw coming: her husband, Yves Obel, married her only to clear the path for his first love, He Shuang. "As long as she's happy, I'll remove every obstacle for her," he says. Worse, Myra realizes Yves is the reason she hasn't conceived — he never allowed it. After a spilled-drink incident, Yves scolds the staff, but Myra sees through his performance of devotion. She tells him anyone would think he actually loves her. He calls his lies "white lies" meant to spare her. When he suggests they should have a baby too, Myra's stomach aches — then he rushes off to work. Myra tells Yves she's leaving for two or three days with friends. He doesn't question it, even offering to reimburse her shopping. She wonders how one person can fake love so convincingly. Meanwhile, at a business event, executives praise He Shuang as the brilliant designer behind the mall's success. Myra appears unexpectedly, and the room tenses. He Shuang's allies sneer that Myra has gone from housewife to snooping on public events. The stage is set for a confrontation.

At the mall's opening ceremony, He Shuang is celebrated as the young master designer behind the original blueprints. Myra freezes — those are her drawings. Yves buys He Shuang jewelry at a private store, and a message meant for someone else is sent to Myra by mistake. She watches him dote on He Shuang, choosing between sapphires and emeralds. Then a call breaks through: there's been an accident involving a vehicle, and someone is asking about Myra. The pieces of her escape — and the danger closing in — finally collide.
